PEAC meets Buhari over impending economic recession

Faced with a potential downtown in the country’s economy, the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) on Tuesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari and made some recommendations to neutralize he negative effect that may be witnessed as a result of the outbreak of coronavirus.

The council, led by Prof Doyin Salami advised the president to reduce the size of the 2020 budget and device means of broadening the country’s revenue base.

The council feared that the dwindling price of crude oil and the economic challenges brought about by the outbreak of coronavirus is capable of affecting investors’ confidence and throwing the country’s economy into turmoil.
