Kanunta Kanu, the brother of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has described Northern Senators’ actions as the reason why the fight for Biafra must continue.
Kanu who released this message on Wednesday morning saying that the actions of Northern Senators’ Caucus has given impetus to the IPOB’s quest for referendum.
Northern Senators regardless of their party affiliations have been seen to be voting in unity and against the stance of southern Nigeria’s interest lately.
The recent votes on Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) where Northern Senators voted for 3% to host community as against 5% proposed by the Southern governors, and the electronic transmission of votes seem to lend credence to the allegations of anti south posturing by northern Senators.
According to Kanu, “the action of the Northern Senate Caucus has further legitimised the BIAFRA struggle. Above all, it has buried the argument that the BIAFRA strong man, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, should use institutionalised politics to push his quest for a referendum.
Contrary to a very popular IGBO saying, what the old man Mazi Nnamdi Kanu saw while lying down, the elderly men have failed to see even while comfortably perched on top of IROKO tree.”
We are always right. All we ask for is Referendum and not WAR,” Kanu said.
