There has been palpable tension among residents of Enugu metropolis rising from a rumoured case of coronavirus.
Stories made round in the late hours of Friday that a seventy year old woman who arrived from the US and was brought to the Accident and Emergency Department of Esut Teaching Hospital had heavy flu suspected to be symptoms of the deadly coronavirus. There were subsequent unconfirmed report that the woman was later quarantined at Colliery Hospital GRA.
Vista correspondent who monitored the story interviewed Dr. Uchenna Orji, a medical practitioner at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Teaching Hospital who was prompt in dismissing the story as a ruse, lies and mischievous mismanagement of information. He maintained that the said woman was having catarrh and not coronavirus. Dr Orji advised residents of the metropolis to disregard the news and go about their normal duties, while maintaining good hygiene.
Vista.ng gathered from a reliable source that the case is being investigated by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control who were said to have taken samples for coronavirus test from the patient.
