Over 2,300 COVID-19 cases in Lagos not admitted due to wrong info, preference for self-care- Abayomi

Lagos State Commissioner for Health, Professor Akin Abayomi has revealed that 2,381 COVID-19 cases in the state are either being treated at home or whereabout unknown because of wrong information.

Abayomi also stated that the state accounts for 42 percent of the confirmed cases of dreaded coronavirus in the country.

The Commissioner, in a post on his social media handle, said the State has also recorded 23.6 percent of the total COVID-19 deaths in the country.

Abayomi said that the state’s number now stands at 9,497 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

In this number, 5,064 are believed to have recovered in the community while 1,470 who were admitted recovered and got discharged.

The Commissioner said that only 447 currently admitted by the state while 2,381 are yet to be admitted due to wrong information and or preference for self care at home.

“Lagos 42% Rest of Nigeria 58%

“42% of the confirmed cases in Nigeria have been in Lagos State, the State accounts for only 23.6% of the recorded deaths due to COVID-19 in Nigeria.

“This suggests competence in the management of confirmed cases,” Abayomi said.
