LASG cautions parents against patronising private tutorial centres during closure of schools

The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo has advised parents against taking the children to private tutorial centres in the wake of coronavirus-forced shut down of all the public and private schools in the state.

Mrs Adefisayo gave this advise on Friday during a meeting with Private Schools Association in Ikeja.

The commissioner stated that the state government will be airing several teaching programmes  through radio and television stations to help children keep up to spped with acednic activities while the current situation lasts.  

According to her, these programmes will have teachers who are specialised in eight core subjects: Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Literature in English and Financial Accounting as anchors to take the students on various topics.

While disclosing that the teachings will be recorded and circulated on various social media platforms for easy accessibility, she stressed that the tutorial programmes are targeted at the students preparing for their West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and other examinations.
