Owing to the confirmation of another 4 cases of coronavirus in the state, the Lagos State government has have swung into action and are now tracing the whereabouts of no less than 1,300 people who have had direct contacts with the newly reported cases.
The state Commissioner for Health, Professor Akinola Abayomi made this known during a press briefing to updatend the public on the spread of the dreaded virus.
Abayomi also disclosed that the state council is considering an adoption of social distancing policy so as to help in contain the virus. This, he noted has become necessary since “the virus cannot jump a distance” and has to move either through contact, very close proximity or contact with a surface that has been touched by an infected person.
The confirmed cases of coronavirus in Nigeria swelled to 12 after for new cases were reported on Wednesday. Out of this number, one person- a contact of the index case- has recovered and been discharged. The index case who is an Italian national has since recovered and is awaiting confirmatory test to be discharged.
