UNTH commissions Enugu first COVID-19 testing centre

The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital,(UNTH), Ituku/Ozalla, Enugu has been declared a testing centre for the novel COVID-19 disease.

The Chief Medical Director, Dr Obinna Onodugo who disclosed this a short while ago, also reavealed that training on the testing procedures has been concluded during the weekend.

According to the Chief Medical Director, testing is billed to start in the Hospital by tomorrow being Monday 22nd June, 2020.

Dr Onodugo praised the efforts of the team which he described as “truly phenomenal”. He particularly commended the Deputy Chairman Medical Advisory Council (DCMAC) in charge of Laboratory Services, Dr Tessy Nwagha for going the extra mile in ensuring that this is achieved.

The CMD also commended the Commissioner for health, Dr Obi whom he said, gave massive support to the project.

He also acknowledged the role of the HIV/PEFAR Unit in this latest development and expressed gratitude to all others who supported the project.
