There is a palpable tension in the pro-Ajimobi faction as Victor Giadom claimed on Tuesday he has got the blessings of President Buhari to take All Progressive Congress (APC) National Executive Council(NEC) meeting to Aso Rock.
Those in the opposing camp to Giadom were rudely shocked when notification for the NEC meeting signed by Giadom was made available to the press on Wednesday.
A source within the camp of the Ajimobi’s faction disclosed to vista.ng that there was air of uncertainty in the camp shortly before it was discovered that Giadom, who was led to Aso Rock to see the President, was denied access by the Chief of Staff.
“We were shocked to see the letter being paraded by Victor Giadom, and we are more shocked to see the venue of the meeting, this has an undertone. But we are watching to see what happens tomorrow.
“We started breathing easy again when the news of how they couldn’t be allow to see the President filtered in,” the source disclosed.
A section of political commentators, however, believe that Giadom must be enjoying some level of President Buhari’s acceptance for him (Giadom) to have had the guts to announce Aso Rock as the venue for the NEC meeting.
There has been power tussle between Ajimobi’s faction believed to have the endorsement of APC National Leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The faction is also believed to have the nod of 13 governors and some serving ministers.
A source within the APC disclosed that most APC governors are miffed by the way their colleagues, Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and former governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, were treated.
They were said to have indicted Oshomole’s leadership for these misfortunes as well as the “fatal” loss the party suffered in Zamfara and Rivers states.
Meanwhile, things have taken a new dimension in the fight for the soul of the party after a Rivers High Court ordered Victor Giadom to stop parading himself as the Acting National Chairman of the party
