The federal government on Sunday reopened the Akanu Ibiam International Airport for operation after several weeks of renovation.
The President was represented by the by the Miinister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, at the occasion. Also present were Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Dave Umayi of Ebonyi, Willy Obiano of Anambra, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State and Deputy Governor Imo State.
Also at the occasion were the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and other dignitaries of the region.
Senator Ekweremadu while addressing the gathering requested the immediate resumption of commercial flights into the airport.
