Senate threatens to arrest Lai Mohammed, heads of MDAs for ignoring its invitation

The Senate, on Thursday, threatened to issue an arrest warrant against Information and Culture Minister, Lai Mohammed and heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) over their failure to honour its invitation.

The upper chamber had invited the aforementioned individuals meet with its Committee on Public Accounts to answer questions pertaining the audit queries issued by the Auditor General of the Federation against them.

The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Matthew Urhoghide was, however, irked that those invited chose not to honour the invitation, prompting him to threaten that the Senate may adopt a forceful approach.

The MDAs that were guilty of ignoring the Senate invitation, according to Urhoghide, the Ministry of Information, Culture and National Orientation, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Solid Minerals and the National Population Commission (NPC).
