The theatrics that have characterised Ondo Governorship Elections took a new twist after the state’s Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to join the Zenith Labour Party.
Ajayi had, in June, resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to join the PDP in order to actualise his dreaming of contesting the Governorship Elections.
Ajayi, who is fast gaining the reputation of “journey man” of Nigerian politics, had joined the PDP with high hopes of picking the party’s ticket to the forthcoming Governorship Elections but lost to out Eyitayo Jegede in the primaries.
Efforts by the party heirachy to persuade Jegede to pick him as his deputy proved abortive as the former was said not to have the much needed trust in him.
Ajayi was on Sunday cleared by the National Executive Committee of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) to contest the October governorship election under its platform.
