Anambra police command has arrested four fake COVID-19 team who who have been selling substandard hand sanitizers to unsuspecting members of the public
This information was released to the media by spokesman of the command, SP Haruna Mohammed.
Haruna said, “On the 31/3/2020, at about 3pm, following intelligence report, police operatives attached to Central Police Station, Onitsha arrested the syndicate.”
“They include; Anthony Chidubem Oyatubo ‘m’ aged 30 years of Nimo, Njikoka LGA, Nwachukwu Chidi ‘m’ aged 31 years of Awka, Chris C.Okeke ‘m’ aged 30 years – of Awka and Olisa Moura ‘m’, aged 25 years of Onitsha.”
The suspects reportedly claimed to be officials of the Ministry of Health, fully kitted with reflective jackets and caps with inscriptions”FIGHT AGAINST COVID-19.”
“They were selling the products to the unsuspecting members of the public as well as distributing same to various outlets in Onitsha before their arrests,” Haruna said.

Meanwhile, the governor of Anambra State, Wiilie Obiano has announced the conversion of the state’s NYSC camp to a 250-bed isolation centre.
Obiano took to his Twitter handle to announce this Wednesday morning.
“Our 240-bed Isolation Centre taking shape at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Anambra State”
“When ready, it shall have all needed equipment & beds properly spaced”
“Same is happening at centres at Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha,” the governor stated.
