Exciting times are back for the Nigerian national team as one of its own is set to be honoured with the bragging right of being the most expensive footballer in the continent.
Baring any last minute surprise, Napoli will on Monday unveil Lille striker, Victor Osimhen, in a deal worth about €81m.
The 5-year deal will see the 21-year old dethrone the Senegalese striker, Nicholas Pepe who moved to Arsenal last summer for a fee in the region of €80m.
Before the French Ligue 1 season was cut short by the coronavirus pandemic, Osimhen had set the Lille front line on fire with an impressive return of 18 goals and 6 assists in all competitions.
His impressive display had, in turn, attracted the attention of several English clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool.
Lille is expected to receive an initial payment of €60m from Napoli but the fee will rise to €81m after a number of performance-related add-ons.
The striker has also agreed a personal terms and is now set to be unveiled in a colourful ceremony on Monday
