Nigeria set to conduct COVID-19 test on Chinese medical team as 14-days quarantine ends

The Nigerian government will conduct COVID-19 test to know the fate of the 15 Chinese medical experts who came into the country just over 14 days ago.

This was disclosed by the Minister for Health, Osagie Ehanire on Wednesday during the briefing of the COVID-19 Presidential Task Force.  

The team, made up of experts in infectious disease, respiratory illness, intensive care, cardiology, neurology, general surgery and anaesthesiology, arrived the country against the advice of the Nigeria Medical Association and were then subjected to compulsory 14 days isolation.

 “I was reminded that the people who came from China had spent 14 days in quarantine and I ordered that the test be done. The COVID-19 test swabs are to be taken tomorrow and the test will be done to finalise if any of them has any infection,” Ehanire said.

Vista ng can authoritatively report that as at the time of filing this report, no member of the team has shown any symptom of the dreaded virus.
