Doubts over the future political intention of the former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has been laid the rest after his son categorically stated that the PDP powerhouse is planning to take another shot at Nigeria’s number one seat.
Adamu Atiku, who is also the Adamawa State Commissioner for Works and Energy, has said that there is nothing wrong with his father running for president again in 2023.
While responding to a question while presenting the one-year score card of his ministry in Yola, Adamu said his father deserve to be given a chance to lead Nigeria as he has been “an astute, strategic, master politician for almost four decades”.
“Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with my father contesting for the presidency.
“In 2023, my father will be aspiring to the number one office in the land because he has been an astute, strategic, master politician for almost four decades,” he said.
Southern Nigeria has been laying claim to right to replace President Buhari in 2023, citing the undocumented agreement by different political parties at the inception of the current republic which allows the Northern and Southern Nigeria to do two terms of four years each and allow for a power shift to the opposite direction.
