Kaduna to jail parents who enrol their children into Amajiri Education System

Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has threatened to jail any parent who enrol their children into Almajiri system of education.

The governor gave the made these threats in the course his visited to about 200 Almajiris from the state who were returned from Kano , Plateau, Bauchi, Gombe, Niger and Kaduna States

The governor warned that any Islamic cleric who enrols a child into the Almajirinci system will be liable to specified jail term and fine of N100,000 or N200,000 per child.

He promised that the state will continue to take delivery of every Almajiri pupil who is an indigene of Kaduna State and proceed to rehabilitate treat and enrol such kids into formal school nearest to where their parents live.

“We will continue to do this until we clear Kaduna State of the menace of Almajiri system, which is not education but the abuse of the privilege and future of a child.

“Our ultimate goal is for them to acquire formal education without depriving them of the opportunity to acquire Quranic education,” El-Rufai said
