The Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has revealed that that the newly commissioned Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri rail line covers 90% of Niger Delta communities.
The Minister during the commissioning of the project today said that the 326km single track standard gauge rail line was funded from the national budget with zero loan.
He further reavealed that there are plans to extend the rail line to Warri seaport and Abuja.
“The Itakpe-Warri rail line is a 326km single track standard gauge railway with 90% coverage in the Niger Delta and two communities in Kogi state (Itakpe and Ajaokuta). Plans to extend the track to the Warri Seaport are on, plus an extension from Itakpe to Abuja,” Amaechi said.
