Ihedioha approaches court to stop investigation into N19.63b allegedly misappropriated by his administration

Former Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha has approached Owerri High Court to seek the discontinuation of probe of the alleged mismanagement of N19.63b billion by the state’s House of Assembly.

The former governor was said to have filed the on the 5th of May with the aim of obtaining an order of perpetual injunction restraining the House of Assembly from inviting him for an investigation into the alleged missing funds.

The suit is also seeks an order to set aside any summon or invitation to Ihedioha, by the House or its agents, to appear before it for probe.

The state government, on April 14, approved a request by the Auditor-General for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs to recover N19.63 billion allegedly embezzled under Ihedioha short stint at the Imo government house. The state’s Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Declan Emelumba had alleged that the money was taken from the State-Local Government Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC), through the Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs (BLGCA).
