How APC plan to rig Edo election – PDP

Nigeria’s opposition party, the People’s Democratic Party says it has uncovered the details of how ruling opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) plans to rig the Edo gubernatorial election.

In a statement released by PDP on Friday afternoon, the party alleged that the APC and its former Chairman are pressuring the Chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr Yakubu Mahmood to secretly release to them the authentic ballot papers and form EC8 result sheet to enable stuffing of ballot boxes and result writing.

The party further said that they also discovered that the APC and its candidate, Osagie Iye-Iyamu have earmarked Edo North Senatorial district as the place where extra ballot papers and result sheets will be handed over to the APC thugs.

PDP further revealed that the neighboring Kogi State is the place designated as the APC “operational base for violent act”.

The PDP noted that the neighbouring Kogi State where the APC is establishing their operational base is the state its elections was characterized by mayhem.

The PDP said the reason the APC candidate is not campaigning is because he has another strategy which includes mobilizing thugs to unlease terror on voters in polling centers, knowing that he cannot win in a free and fair election.

The party called the attention of INEC and the security agents to the instructions Ize-Iyamu gave to his thugs to violate the election movement restrictions order to enable them convey weapons, charms and also provide cover for APC agents who are willing be doctoring results in different places.

The party concluded by stating that it is the right of Edo people to choose who will govern them, and Nigerians already know that Edo people are with Governor Godwin Obaseki, and will never accept any illegality of using security apparuts of the Federal Government to subvert the will of the majority.
