President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, approved the implementation of the Oransaye Committee Report.
The committee, established in 2012, had made some daring recommendations on the scrapping and merging of about 120 parastatals in the country in order to reduce the cost of governance.
The committee, among other things, recommended the abolition of federal character commission and Hajj/Christian Pilgrimage Commissions.
It also recommended the merger of FG’s establishments like EFCC and ICPC, FRCS and Federal Highways Department, WAEC and NECO, NTA, FRCN and VON.
The committee equally recommended the elevation of the CCT to a full superior court to handle only corruption cases for the consolidated anti corruption agency.
The former President Jonathan administration after receiving the white paper from the committee it had mandated to review the report had rejected the report. This was after the parent committee submitted its report in 2013.
