FG considers “precision lockdown” for 10 Lagos LGAs, 8 others with highest cases of COVID-19

Federal Government is considering a lockdown of the 18 Local Government Areas who account for 60 percent of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Nigeria as a strategy of flattening the curve of the virus.

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Boss Mustapha, gave this hint while briefing the press shortly after meeting with the President in State House on Monday.

Mustapha said the FG and affected states will liaise to implement “precision lockdown” in the 18 Local Government Areas.

According to the record of the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, Lagos accounts for 10 of the top 18 LGAs most with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Below is the 18 LGAs with the highest number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

1 – Lagos – Lagos Mainland LG

2 – Abuja – Abuja Municipal

3 – Lagos – Mushin

4 – Lagos – Eti-Osa

5 – Kano – Tarauni

6 – katsina – Katsina

7 – Lagos – Alimosho

8 – Borno – Maiduguri

9 – Lagos – Kosofe

10 – Jigawa – Dutse

11 – Lagos – Ikeja

12 – Kano – Nassarawa

13 – Lagos – Oshodi/Isolo

14 – Lagos – Apapa

15 – Lagos – Amuwo Odofin

16 – Edo – Oredo

17 – Bauchi – Bauchi

18 – Lagos – Lagos Island
