It was a mild drama on Friday when #EndSARS protesters met with Enugu State governor, Rt Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to demand that members of notorious SARS be prosecuted.
The protest which started in the early hours of Friday with the hope of getting a tangible commitment from the governor ended abruptly.
Protesters who have bottled up anger because of their numerous experiences in the hands of defunct SARS could not take it from the governor when he began to address them with his popular cliché, “Enugu State is in the hand of God”.
Many of the protesters who heckled the governor minced no words in telling him to his face that “Enugu State is in his hands”, a gesture that made him walk out on the protesters.
One of the protesters said that it is sheer fraud for an elected officer to leave his job for God, arguing that God has already given humans the power to make their environment better.
“We didn’t elect God to develop Enugu State, we elected him(Governor Ugwuanyi) so it is deciet to turn and tell us that Enugu State is in the hands of God. Is the money of Enugu State also in the hands of God,” he questioned.
