The Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, would be reopened on August 30, 2020, Minister of Aviation has said.
Hadi Sirika, in a video message sent through the Director, Public Affairs of the Ministry of Aviation to journalists in Abuja, disclosed that the airport is 95 percent completed as at the last inspection.
The FG had initially planned a reopening of the airport before Easter but the target could not be met as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Minister also said that the cargo wing of the airport is expected to be completed and commissioned by 2023.
He showered encomiums on the Enugu State Governor and other Southeast Governors for their cooperation.
