President Muhammadu Buhari has accused some political appointees in the previous administration and his government of “abuse of trust”.
The President made this revelation while reacting to questions posed by pressmen after observing the Eid-el-Kabir prayers with his family members and aides at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Friday.
The President, in a direct reply to question on the current probe of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) said “there has been abuse of trust by people trusted by previous administration and this administration.
“A number of assets have been recovered and some money. But we have introduced TSA where all the monies are taken and I said asset should be sold and the money be put through TSA so that it can be identified at any level and I will see who will come after us and take it back again to those who misappropriated public funds,” he said.
This is the first time the President is speaking on the scandals rocking these government agencies having only released a press statement over the matter through his media aids in the past.
