The growing call for Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari to personally announce the disbandment of SARS has yielded results as the president addressed the protesters in broadcast on Monday afternoon.
The president in the broadcast emphasised that the agitations of Nigerian youths who are on the streets are genuine.
He further stressed that disbandment of SARS is just the first step into an extensive police reforms that is aimed at bringing back police to it’s primary duties of securing lives and properties of citizens.
The president regretted the lost of lives of innocent Nigerians in the hands of SARS and assured that officers who committed those acts of brutalities will be brought to book.
President Buhari revealed that he has directed that the deaths of those protesters in Ogbomosho on Sunday be investigated.
He concluded by praising majority of law enforcement officers who are judiciously doing their duties
