Court asks Ihedioha to defend himself over alleged misappropriation of N19.6b

A High Court sitting in Owerri has rejected an order filed by a former Governor of Imo State, Emeka Ihedioha, asking it to stop the House of Assembly from proceeding with the probe of N19.63 local government funds allegedly misappropriated by his administration.

Ihedioha’s Counsel, S. A. Anyalewechi had in an ex-parte application asked for an injunction restraining the house from questioning or probing his client over the said missing fund.

However, the Counsel to the house and the Attorney General of the state, C. O. C. Akaolisa, told the court that the probe has become a necessity as it will help the state ascertain the true circumstances surrounding the missing fund.

While ruling on the matter, Justice S. I. Opara held that rather than grant the ex-parte application, the case would be set down for hearing and requested all parties to file necessary documents for hearing.
