Buhari’s Minister  threatens APC chieftain with N250m libel suit if COVID- 19 comment is not retracted

The Minister for Foreign Affairs,Geoffrey Onyeama has told Hon. Nwanjoku James Okugo, an executive member of All Progressive Congress, Enugu State, to retract his defamatory statement or risk paying two hundred and fifty million naira in damages.

The minister through his lawyer, E.C Onuoha esq, claimed that Hon.Okugo is the source of the rumour making round in Enugu state that the two reported cases of covid-19 in Enugu were the Minister and his Personal Assistant.

In the alleged WhatsApp message from Hon. Okugo, he purportedly stated that the Minister has been working hard to remove him and the Enugu APC chairman from office. He advised the Minister to use his office to fight covid-19 because the disease is a foreign disease.

He went further to allude that the Minister was one of the persons who made body contact with the Chief of Staff of the President, Abba Kyari, insinuating that the Minister could have been infected as a result.

Recall that there has been been a running battle between Enugu state chapter of All Progressive Congress and the Foreign Affairs Minister since he was appointed by President Buhari. Enugu state APC since the appointment have seen the Minister as an impostor and an outsider foisted on them by Abuja.
