Nigeria’s Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Dr Isa Pantami, has halted the implementation of the proposed increase in licence fees of courier services operators by Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST)
Dr Pantami, who revealed this through his Twitter handle on Saturday morning, revealed that the increase was not a part of the approval he earlier gave to the Post Master General of Nigeria Postal Service(NIPOST).
His tweet reads: “Pls @NipostNgn, our attention has been drawn to an increase of licence fee, which was not part of the regulation I earlier APPROVED for you. Your Chair and PMG were YESTERDAY contacted to put the implementation on hold and send a report to our ministry by Monday. Best wishes!”
NIPOST had earlier today reeled out new regulations for courier services operators which saw their licensing fees hiked with International billed to pay N20 million, National. N10 milliong, Regional N5 million and State N2 million.
Municipal and Special SME are scheduled to pay N1 million and N250,000 respectively
