BREAKING: Nat’l Assembly asks Buhari to suspend 774,000 recruitment exercise

The Senate and Representatives, on Wednesday, asked President Muhammadu Buhari to suspend the planned recruitment of 774,000 Nigerians for Special Public Works across the country.

The controversy surrounding the programme took another dimension on Tuesday when the Minister of State for Labour and Employment had a shouting match with the joint committee of the two Chambers of the National Assembly.

Keyamo had rejected the committee’s preference for a closed door section meant to discourse the modalities for the take off of the programme and, instead, insisted on the meeting taking place in the full glare of the pressmen who were present.

The Minister on Monday caused a stir when he revealed that he was being blackmailed to compromise the process, saying that he will only work according to the dictates of the President.
