The President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo has called on Nigerians to beam their searchlight in all the major political parties to choose their preffered Igbo presidential candidate.
Chief Nwodo while answering questions on Arise TV earlier today, insisted that there is no drought of qualified Igbo men and women who can lead the country come 2023.
He enjoyed journalists to lead the conversation on who among the Igbos is qualified to do the job, by sampling the potential candidates and digging deep into their backgrounds and antecedents.
He further stated that the agitations of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) which is genuine is because Igbo youths believe that they don’t belong to Nigeria going by how the country treats the region.
Recall that the nephew to President Buhari, Alhaji Mamam Daura had in an interview he granted British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) called for competence as against zone in chosing who should replace incumbent President Buhari.
This call by Daura came at the time Ohaneze Ndigbo lead by Chief Nnia Nwodo is reaching out to other regions of the country for a possible consensus of an Igbo presidency in 2023.
Chief Nwodo argued that there is abundance of competent Igbo men and women who can do the job meritoriously.
He further queried why it is only when it is the turn of Ndigbo to lead the country that these call for competence takes the front burner.
Ohaneze Ndigbo and many Igbo groups are of the opinion that since it is the turn of the South to produce the president in 2023, it will be logically right for the southeast which have not produced an executive President since independence to do so.
